How do I dispose of my refill?

Refills are made from Vivomer, certified home compostable. You have three options, in this order of preference:

1. Home compost. The best route if you have a home compost bin.
2. Drop it off at a take-back point. If you don't have a home compost bin, take your empty refill to a collection point (see below).
3. General waste. If neither option works for you, place it in your general waste bin.

Please don't put refills in your household recycling bin or food waste bin. Vivomer isn't compatible with standard recycling streams.

Where can I drop off my empty refills?

UK: Vivomer is accepted in MYGroup beauty take-back collection boxes in over 800 retail stores, including Recycle at Boots, MyBeauty at Harrods H Beauty and Reselfridges Recycle at Selfridges. MYGroup processes returned Vivomer at its Hull facility into MYboard, a board material used in furniture, fit-outs and shop displays. Find out more about MYGroup's take-back schemes.

US and Canada: Drop off at any Pact Collective collection bin. Find your nearest Pact bin.

Please make sure your refill is empty and clean before you drop it off.

Will my refill biodegrade in the bathroom?

No. Vivomer behaves just like conventional plastic during normal use. It is stable and sterile throughout its life in your bathroom. Biodegradation only begins when exposed to sufficient microbial activity, the kind found in compost, soil, or marine environments.

If I don't have home compost, where can I dispose of my refill?

Drop it off at a take-back point (see above). If there isn't one near you, place it in your general waste bin. Vivomer is safe for incineration and, unlike fossil-based plastics, releases biogenic carbon when burned. It is not suitable for household recycling bins.

Is my refill recyclable?

Not in your household recycling. Vivomer has been tested in sorting facilities across the UK, France, Germany, and the Netherlands and is not compatible with standard recycling streams. Instead, compost it at home, drop it off at a take-back point, or use general waste.

Do your refills create microplastics?

No. Unlike petroleum-based plastics, Vivomer does not shed persistent microplastics. When Vivomer breaks down, it does so through biological processes, not by fragmenting into lasting plastic particles.
